DTW Catalyst 26: Trusted agentic AI for access management

Empowering secure enterprise connectivity with AI-driven compliance

The “Trusted Agentic AI for Access and Permissions Management” Catalyst project, presented at DTW Ignite 2026 in Copenhagen (June 23–25, 2026), is a collaborative initiative under the TM Forum Catalyst program. It brings together leading telecommunications operators and technology partners - including GIP Exyr GmbH, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Celfocus, and TALLENCE AG - to jointly develop a proof-of-concept solution addressing critical enterprise infrastructure challenges.

As enterprise networks continue to expand across multi-vendor, multi-domain, and hybrid environments, organizations face increasing complexity in maintaining secure, consistent, and auditable configurations. Legacy approaches, often dependent on manual intervention, fragmented toolchains, and inconsistent access control models, introduce operational inefficiencies and systemic risks. These challenges frequently manifest as misconfigurations, security vulnerabilities, compliance gaps, and service disruptions, all of which scale exponentially with network complexity.

This Catalyst initiative addresses these challenges through a trusted, agentic AI-driven framework for access and configuration management. At its core, the solution leverages an intelligent AI agent capable of contextual awareness of network states, policy interpretation, and execution within strictly governed permission boundaries. The design emphasizes not only automation, but also transparency, explainability, and auditability, ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and regulatory requirements.

The solution delivers several key capabilities:

  • Deep configuration analytics to detect inconsistencies, risks, and policy violations across distributed network environments
  • Policy-aware recommendations and controlled automation, enabling AI-driven actions that strictly adhere to predefined governance and access constraints
  • Continuous compliance validation, ensuring configurations remain aligned with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks
  • Comprehensive auditability and explainability, providing clear, human-readable insights into actions taken, underlying rationale, and associated permission scopes

By integrating intelligent automation with robust governance controls, the project significantly reduces operational complexity while enhancing accuracy, security, and consistency across the network lifecycle.

Ultimately, the initiative demonstrates how next-generation, agentic AI systems can elevate enterprise security, optimize operational efficiency, and enable scalable, resilient automation frameworks. Through real-world use cases and cross-industry collaboration, the Catalyst will also deliver reusable architectures, best practices, and actionable insights, accelerating the adoption of trusted agentic AI within modern network management ecosystems.
